On Tuesday, March 29, New Caledonia participated in a videoconference on the European program "LIFE 2021-2027", organized by OCTA, in partnership with the association Enviropea. The environment and climate remain the preferred areas for partnerships with Europe.

A special ministerial meeting of the Association of the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTA) associated with the European Union (EU), took place by video conference under the chairmanship of New Caledonia for the second time. The main objective of this high-level dialogue was to adopt the new OCTA strategy for the period 2021-2027.

New Caledonia is hosting the third  Round Table for a Cleaner Pacific, which is being held in person and by video conference from 16 to 25 November. On behalf of the 17th government, Joseph Manauté, overseeing the Environment, opened the discussions which bring together 26 countries and territories of the region.

As a part of the COP26, the Overseas Countries and Territories Association (OCTA) in collaboration with the European Union organized an event dedicated to innovative regional solutions for climate change adaptation. Joseph Manauté, Minister for the Environment, spoke at this high-level exchange.

Government President Louis Mapou spoke alongside leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) to make the Pacific voice's heard at  the 26th United Nations Conference of the Parties on Climate Change (COP26). The international negotiations began this weekend in Glasgow, Scotland.

The second edition of the Pacific Exposition, organized by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia, is in full swing from October 27 to 30. Twenty Pacific countries and territories, including New Caledonia, are participating in this virtual event which aims to strengthen regional cooperation and encourage economic recovery following the COVID  health crisis.

The construction of the National University of Vanuatu is in full swing. It is financed by the AFD, the Government of Vanuatu and the Government of New Caledonia, notably, as a part of the tripartite agreement.

The joint cooperation commission between France, New Caledonia and Vanuatu met remotely because of the health crisis. Nine projects were selected and will be financed in the neighboring archipelago for a total budget of 33.4 million XPF.
