The cooperation with the Kingdom of Tonga mainly focuses on developing « La Francophonie ».
Since 2012, the Government of New Caledonia supports the office of the Alliance Française located within the Tonga High School. The Government also funds a French Teaching position in this school, which is one of the biggest in Tonga, since 2017.
New Caledonian companies’ know-how in terms of renewable energy is also showcased through a project undertaken in partnership with the Ministry of Meteorology, Energy, Information, Disaster Management, Climate Change and Communications (MEIDECC), and funded by the Pacific Fund in 2016 and 2017.
