Adolphe Digoué, Minister for the Economy, took part in the meeting of Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) trade ministers on Friday 6 October via videoconference. This was an opportunity for the region's leaders to discuss the region's strategy  in terms of trade, investment and private sector development.

The President of the  Government, Louis Mapou, took part in the first South Korea-Pacific Islands Forum Summit in Seoul in May, alongside a New Caledonian delegation. At the heart of the discussions were ways of strengthening regional cooperation between the 18 Pacific States and Territories and Korea.

On Tuesday, November 22, New Caledonia hosted the 19th European Union-Overseas Countries and Territories (EU-OCT) Forum. An opportunity for members of the Overseas Countries and Territories Association (OCTA), representatives of France, Denmark, the Netherlands and the European Commission, to discuss opportunities, challenges and the cooperation that binds them.

New Caledonia, which  assumes the presidency of the Overseas Countries and Territories Association (OCTA) since December 8, 2020, will host the 19th European Union - Overseas Countries and Territories Forum in Noumea on November 22. President Louis Mapou outlined the key moments  of the event on Monday, November 14, at a press conference.

The declaration of intent regarding the roll-out of a second submarine cable between the two islands was signed by the President of the Government Louis Mapou and the Prime Minister of Vanuatu Bob Loughman.

A New Caledonian delegation, led by the President of the Government Louis Mapou, made an official visit to Vanuatu from Friday 29 to Sunday 31 July. This trip was an opportunity to discuss all the major regional issues and to sign two declarations of intent.

The 51e Pacific Islands Forum, held from July 11 to 15 in Suva, Fiji, allowed the leaders of the 17 member countries to take stock of the region's major political orientations. At the same time, the President of the Government Louis Mapou, head of the New Caledonian delegation, held a number of bilateral political and economic meetings with very concrete results.

Invited by the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce (FACCI) in Queensland following his mission in March 2020, the Minister for energy transition and renewable energy, Christopher Gygès, took part in a conference dedicated to New Caledonia and entitled: "Revitalising the nickel industry through sustainable production", on May 16 in Brisbane.

Mickaël Forrest, minister for  foreign Relations in collaboration  with the President, held a press conference on Tuesday May 31. He outlined the outcomes of the regional seminar for the Pacific, organized by the UN Special Committee on Decolonization, which he attended from May 11 to 13.

A cultural and educational area dedicated to New Caledonia was inaugurated at the Alliance Française in Adelaide by the Official Representative of New Caledonia in Australia on May 13. Yves Lafoy represented the Minister for La Francophonie, Yoann Lecourieux.

At the request of Adolphe Digoué , the Minister for Trade,  the members of the Export Support Council, a body tasked with facilitating dialogue and consultation between economic actors and New Caledonian institutions on issues relating to trade, met on Monday 2 May at Government Headquarters. The council had not met since January 2018.

New Caledonia Area" in New Zealand, on Friday 25 March. This showcase should
participate in the promotion of New Caledonia, notably through its languages and cultures.

Biodiversity,  the circular economy, climate change, clean energies... the LIFE program supports fundamental projects for the future of the Pacific Islands.

Private or public project leaders in the fields of environment and climate can apply for European funding under the LIFE program. Workshops are organized at the end of April by the Enviropea association to help prepare applications.
