As every year since 2011, beginning of 2015 has been the occasion to update the Joint Country Strategy between SPC and New Caledonia. This strategy is an ongoing working document reviewing the collaboration between New Caledonia and SPC, the actions led by SPC in New Caledonia, as well as the expertise New Caledonia enforces in the Pacific via this regional organisation.

The annual progress report enables to assess the previous year activities and to plan actions for the year to come. Thematic meetings are hence organised between the New Caledonian stakeholders and the different SPC divisions:

  • Economic Development Division (Transport and energy programme)
  • Land Resources Division (Agriculture et forestry)
  • Public Health Division
  • Fisheries, Aquaculture and Marine Ecosystems Division
  • Social Development Division (Youth, gender and culture)
  • Geoscience Division (water and sanitation, disaster reduction and geosciences for development)

All the stakeholders involved in the related areas participate in those meetings: they either work for public institutions, in the research field, in the private or voluntary sectors.

These meetings are also an opportunity to review the 2015 regional agenda: The Heads of Health meeting from 17 to 19 February in Suva, Fiji, the Ministers of Health meeting in April and the Heads of Fisheries meeting in March.  Stakeholders can also participate in many workshops and training sessions.

As for the meeting of CRGA (Committee of Representatives of Governments and Administrations), it will be held in November in Niue.
