The President of the Government, Louis Mapou, held a videoconference with the European Union (EU) Ambassador for the Pacific, Sujiro Seam. The strengthening of relations between the EU and New Caledonia, as well as the regional integration of the territory, were at the heart of the exchanges on territorial and regional programs.

The 51st Pacific Islands Forum (PIF)  Leadears Retreat was held on August 6 by videoconference. The President of the Government, Louis Mapou, represented New Caledonia at this high-level meeting, which notably adopted a declaration on the preservation of maritime areas in the face of rising sea levels due to climate change.

The 5th France-Oceania Summit was held on Monday 19 July by videoconference in the presence of the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, and all the leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum and regional organizations.

The 5th edition of the "Journées de la mer" (Sea Days),  organized by the maritime cluster of New Caledonia, took place on July 7 and 8. This annual event brought together 175 actors from the maritime world, from the private and public sectors. The government services were well represented.

On Wednesday 30 June, New Caledonia took part in the first Regional Meeting of Ministers of Civil Aviation (RAMM), organized virtually under the chairmanship of Papua New Guinea.

The 9th Pacific Islands Leaders' Summit (PALM* 9) could not meet in Japan, but took place on July 2 by videoconference. New Caledonia was represented by the President of the Government Thierry Santa and Minister Jean-Louis d'Anglebermes.

On the agenda was the establishment of a new framework for cooperation with  British territories following their withdrawal from the OCTA.

The Oceanian Regional Project of Territories for the Sustainable Management of Ecosystems (PROTEGE) was showcased during  Europe Day, relayed in New Caledonia on May 10. A week before, the third territorial coordination committee noted the good implementation of the program funded by the European Union.

In person or by videoconference, many entrepreneurs participated in the event organized in Brisbane.

New Caledonia was in the spotlight at the "New-Caledonia Energy and Mining Update" hybrid press conference organized by the French-Australian Chamber of Commerce (FACCI). The event gathered more than 60 participants, including a majority of Australian entrepreneurs, on Wednesday April 28 in Brisbane.

New Caledonia is eligible for the Kiwa Initiative, implemented by the French Development Agency (AFD). A new call for ideas has been launched to finance and support regional projects related to climate change adaptation and biodiversity protection. Applications can be submitted on the Kiwa Initiative website until September 15, 2021.
