A Ni-Vanuatu delegation, led by Prime Minister  Charlot Salwai, visited Government Headquarters on 8 January 2020. The Trade Agreements between the two islands, and more specifically the one signed oin April 2019, were at the heart of the discussions. 

Gilbert Tyuienon, Vice President of the Government of New Caledonia, and Edouard Fritch, President of French Polynesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the two territories.

 A delegation led by Vice President, Gilbert Tyuienon, and Ministers Yoann Lecourieux and Vaimu’a Muliava, made an official visit to French Polynesia from 10-13 December to lay the groundwork for a Framework Agreement which will define areas of cooperation between the two territories.

The President of the Government, Thierry Santa, met the Ambassador of the European Union to the Pacific, Sujiro Seam, on 4 December, as part of his first official visit to New Caledonia. The high-level meeting satisfied  both participants.

In early November, a  New Caledonian delegation attended  the annual meeting of the Group on Earth Observation, alongside the French delegation. Called the GEO Week, the event which took place in Canberra this year was attended by about 1.500 participants.

The Pacific Territories Regional Project for Sustainable Ecosystem Management (PROTEGE) has started its implementation in New Caledonia . The first Steering Committee meeting  took place on Wednesday 30 October and kicked off the project on a local scale.

Thierry Santa signed a Declaration of Intentions in favour of the Oceans with Eugene Rhuggenaath, Prime Minister of Curaçao, current President of OCTA.

The President of the Government Thierry Santa visited Brussels from 15-17 October to participate in the Ocean Conference organized by the Overseas Countries and Territories Association (OCTA). It was an oportunity to participate actively in the newly elected European institutions and prepare New Caledonia's upcoming Presidency of OCTA which starts during the first quarter of  2020.

The 50th Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) Leaders Meeting took place from 12-16 August in Funafuti, Tuvalu, around the theme "Securing our Future in Oceania." The New Caledonian delegation was led by the President of the Government, Thierry Santa , a baptism of fire during which leaders endorsed a High-level declaration on Climate Change.

The Minister for the Economy and Trade, Christopher Gygès, headed  a fourty-people delegation of economic actors who visited Fiji from 29-30 July .
